Marshalltown Community College Athletics issued the following announcement on April 2.
The Marshalltown Community College Athletic Department has named Jose Mieses the Male Athlete of the Month for the month of March. Over the month of March, Mieses, a returning All-Region selection, has played well, going 20-40 at the plate with two doubles and seven RBIs. Mieses currently holds a .508 on base percentage and a .521 slugging percentage. His blazing speed and athletic ability make him a special talent in the conference and is second in the ICCAC in batting average and stolen bases.
"Jose has been the most consistent player offensively and defensively to this point," stated Head Coach, Kim Johnson. "He plays over his mistakes and doesn't dwell on his positive performances. His is a great competitor and I'm glad we wear the same uniform."
With poor weather conditions as of late, the Tiger baseball team will have to wait to get back on Shawn Williams Field. The Tigers were scheduled to play Monday and Tuesday before poor weather conditions left them inside. The team is scheduled to get back to action Saturday, April 7 when they host conference rival Iowa Western Community College.
