Grand View University issued the following announcement on Jan. 12.
The Grand View women's track and field team traveled to St. Ambrose on Friday afternoon to compete in the Fighting Bee Opener. The Vikings won five events, had the top two finishers in the women's 60M hurdles and set a new school record.
Grand View's Michelle Carrillo (JR/Storm Lake, Iowa) won the weight throw by over 6 feet with a toss of 57' 3.5" which qualifies her with an NAIA A standard mark. Chantel Blair (JR/Boone, Iowa) won the long jump for the Vikings, recording a 17' 11.75" jump, which qualified her with an NAIA B standard. Blair now holds the Grand View school record in the long jump.
