Central College issued the following announcement on May 17.
At the Dutchies, the Central College athletics department announced men's track and field athlete Will Daniels(Geneseo, Ill.) and women's volleyball player Chapel Carter (Colorado Springs, Colo., Coronado HS) as the male and female senior student-athletes with the highest cumulative GPAs.
Daniels carries a perfect 4.0 GPA and will receive his degree in biology after only three years. He has won a pair of national titles indoors in the heptathlon and has four All-American performances. He's been named to the Google Cloud/CoSIDA Academic All-American team one and was the USTFCCCA Indoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2018.
Upon graduation, Daniels is headed to the University of Iowa to start working towards a master's degree in clinical exercise physiology. He will enroll in medical school following the master's degree.
A three-time academic all-conference honoree, Carter maintains a 3.89 GPA as an elementary education major. She was the teams's Jamie Hill Most Valuable Player in 2018 and also received the Mart and Elva Mae Heerema Achievement Award.
Carter is moving south to Tennessee in pursuit of a teaching position.
